Somehow another year has passed, and now, the iPhone is a teenager. In the iPhone 13, you’ll find longer battery life, a brand-new cinematic filming mode, and (thanks to Black Friday), some serious savings.
Whether you’re ready to upgrade to the newest iteration of the iPhone or want to see if you can snag some more savings on an iPhone 12 now that it’s the “old” model, we’ve got you covered with all the best Black Friday deals on this Apple classic.
Does Apple offer Black Friday discounts on iPhones?
If you want to buy straight from the Apple Store, they are offering a $50 gift card with the purchase of an iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, or iPhone SE as part of their Black Friday event starting Nov. 26 and lasting through Nov. 29. As this offer is for older iPhones and the gift card is only eligible for use on later purchases, this isn’t really an exceptional deal, but if you don’t want your deal to be tied to a carrier, this is one option for you.
Apple has also been running their own special carrier deals for Verizon, T-Mobile/Sprint, and AT&T customers, so if you do you want to buy through Apple but reap the benefits of buying through a carrier, this could be another way to go. Saving a decent chunk of change is contingent on having a newer phone to trade-in, so if you’re not too confident in your iPhone 8’s savings power, it’s definitely worth checking out the deals your carrier is offering directly.
Which leads us to our next point — the best bet to get the biggest possible savings on iPhones is to buy direct from carriers. This is no different than Black Friday seasons of years past. Yes, most deals are tied to trading in old phones and opting for unlimited plans, but not all of them are (like this iPhone 12 mini deal we have linked at the top of this very post). For your convenience, we’ve listed all the best offerings from each major carrier below (and Apple where notable), so comparing savings can be as easy as possible.
Should I wait until Black Friday to buy an iPhone?
iPhone deals are running now, which means if you see the phone you like in stock and it’s on sale, buy it. Due to supply chain shortages, tech of all sorts is expected to be much harder to come by this year, so waiting for Black Friday or Cyber Monday instead of buying now could raise your chances of gift wrapping a picture of a new iPhone instead of gift wrapping an actual iPhone.
Verizon already lists the iPhone 13 Pro Max as being on backorder until mid-December, while the more budget-friendly iPhone SE is completely sold out at AT&T at the time of writing. In other words, you shouldn’t be expecting a guaranteed deal on the new or older iPhones a week before Christmas, as there’s a decent chance they’ll be backordered or out of stock. Plus, some of the best savings you’ll see are being offered before Black Friday, so why wait?
